Agazi Alumni

Agazi School Alumni Association (North America) is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization whose objective is to help Agazi High School in Adigrat, Tigray, Ethiopia. As we address the main needs of Agazi, our support will expand to include other schools around Agazi.

Our main office is located in Denver, Colorado, USA. Currently, we have chapters with elected officers in Washington, DC and Denver, CO. Re-organized in 1996 in North America, the Association was originally established in Adigrat in the late 1960's and has been helping students until it was discontinued in the early 80's due to political conditions in Ethiopia.

Congratulations

Congratulations to our Addis Abeba Chapter of Agazi Alumni for receiving a matching fund grant money from the Japanese Embassy in Ethiopia. This is the third grant money obtained by our Addis Chapter from Embassies in Ethiopia.

The project agreement signed between the Japanese Embassy and Agazi Alumni chapter in Addis is for Birr 1.9 million.

The grant from the Japanese Embassy together with a matching fund from the Adigrat City Council is going to be spent on the construction of additional class rooms (10-12) at Agazi Elementary School. The main objective of the project is to give the teaching-learning process a relaxed atmosphere by putting an end to the shift system, which does not exist in any other school but Agazi.

To date, the focus of ASAA-N.A. and even ASAA International has been and will be to Agazi high school and other high schools. This is the first time the original Agazi (elementary school) has benefited from the resources of its alumni in the past few years.

The Addis Abeba Chapter together with the Adigrat chapter will closely follow up the implementation of the project.
